Public Transportation
The San Francisco Municipal Railway, called
MUNI, includes buses, historic street cars (F line), cable cars, and the local metro system. Schedule information: 415-673-6864 or visit www.sfmta.com.
The ticket for buses and streetcars costs $2.25 and can be purchased on the bus with exact change. The fare includes a transfer to a connecting bus within the specified amount of time on the transfer.
The MUNI passport can be used in all the local MUNI vehicles including cable cars. It can be purchased at the
San Francisco Travel on Hallidie Plaza and at the turnaround of the cable car.

The
Golden Gate Transit
buses link San Francisco to the North Bay.
Bay Area Rapid Transit
The
Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) links San Francisco to the San Francisco International Airport, the East Bay and South Bay. The fare is based on the distance. Tickets can be purchased at the machines in the Bart stations. Visit

Cable Car
The cable car has three lines that run from 6.30 to 24.30 every 12 minutes. Two lines link downtown to the Fisherman's Wharf and leave from Market / Powell street and one line runs only on California Street from the Embarcadero to Van Ness Avenue. The fare is $7.00. Tickets can be purchased on board or at the ticket booths at the cable car turnaround.
